Yesterday at the U.S. Championships
July 1, 2006

Yesterday at the U.S. Championships I competed in the 800 & 1500m. Both races went well and were season best times. Still waiting to see offical results but my coach had me at 2:22 and 4:25 respectively.

I easily won the 800m all comer event....they didn't want to seem to put me in any of the open T52 races which is frustrating so I was up in the stands taking pictures and the next thing I know my coach finds out I'm in the open 1500m race. So I literally came out of the stands jumped in my racing chair, put my spikes on and was sent to the start line. I did end up last but ran really hard and right around my personal best time. It was a alot more fun then laping other racers like I did in my 800m race.

It's a shame the meet is being run so poorly because with the athletes they have here it's truely an international high level meet.

It's been a great experience for me as I've gotten to meet athletes from all over the world. Just in the bus coming back to the hotel last night there was me, 1 German, 4 English, 2 Americans and 2 Swiss athletes.

The cool exerience of the day was having superstar and World Record holder Edith Hunkler from Switzerland (who I just met moments before) was screaming my name and cheering lounder then anyone. I usually don't notice stuff like that but she was going crazy! Not to bad having the "Swiss Miss" in your fan club! (Oh did i mention she's unbelieveably beautiful too!)
