Canadian Paralympic Track & Field Championships
August 9, 2004
Jeff has just returned from Edmonton Alberta where he competed at the Canadian Paralympic Track & Field Championships.
On Friday Aug 6th May set a two second personal best time in the 400m semi final with a clocking of 68.96.
Day two of the Championships saw May compete in the 200m semi final, 1500m final and the 200m final. May was 4th in the 1500m in a time of 4:38.61 and 4th in the 200m final in 37.76 into a negative 2.1 headwind.
On day three he was again fourth in the 400m in 69.60 just missing out on the bronze medal to Ontario rival Joe Radmore by four hundreds of a second. The last race of the weekend saw May right in the middle of a tactical 800m race. "I was right in the pack with 300m to go, so I was really happy but then they just had another gear and I fell off in the last 150m but I can't really complain about a three second pb" May said. He continued to say "Overall the weekend was pretty solid, I ran fast. I am disappointed I didn't get on the podium but all the guys who beat me are top world class guys and Paralympians. It's really amazing to see how far my racing has come in the last two years."
